Creating Ripples

Everyone has a ripple that flows from the things we say and the actions we take. The impact of the things we say and the actions we take remain long after the words are spoken or the action taken.

In our lives and relationships, understanding our ripple and managing or moderating it creates the foundations for stronger relationships.

In an organisational construct understanding our ripple and managing or moderating it creates an environment where trust can grow and excellence can be achieved.

Master Transformation

What is transformation? From changing behaviour to changing culture to changing the infrastructure, transformation is anything that makes your organisation fundamentally different.

I know transformation is hard. Research tells us that many transformation activities are unsuccessful. True transformation is a marriage of ‘what’ we will do differently with ‘how’ we will do things differently. So often we only focus on the 'what'. I call this the ‘doing’ versus the ‘being’.

Behaviour and culture are at the heart of all successful transformations. Even initiatives that seem, on the surface, to be technology led. Nurturing the right culture is both an art and a science. Culture is unique and comprises the complex combination of different people and their behaviour.

The leadership ripple, both from individual leaders and the leadership collectively, is a key factor in creating the culture. Consciously managing the leadership ripple will result in a change in culture and pave the way for a successful transformation.

No two organisations are the same.

When you spend time and energy to get this “how” right it will provide a solid foundation for your successful transformation.

Let me help you to succeed.

About

Kay

Principal

With a career spanning nearly 30 years in financial services Kay focuses on supporting organisations and individuals to achieve excellence, in performance, culture and wellbeing.

Her passion is helping individuals to understand and manage their ripple. Her mission is to bring awareness, courage and energy to the workplace so that leaders can create an environment where everyone can thrive, everyone can contribute, and all contributions are welcomed and valued.

Kay’s background and experience operating in executive roles across the public and private sector position her to understand the operational challenge for organisations and for leadership tension from both a behavioural and delivery perspective that may lead to an increase in workplace risk factors. Her ability to recognise and appreciate competing demands and the impacts these have on leadership style and ripple and the implications for the organisation, coupled with a wide range of facilitation, transformation and coaching skills, mean her approach and experience is grounded in hands-on experience.

Kay is an ambassador for supporting and developing future leaders and is an active coach and mentor who is passionate about sending the “lift back down” in her daily life.

Kay is a proud mother to 3 boys and her dress sense outside of work can be best described as “I didn’t think I was getting out of the car”.

Humanistic leadership at a time of great evolution

Kay built a Business Change team literally from scratch as part of our $400m program designed to set up MLC Life Insurance as a stand-alone life company with our own technology. Kay provided humanistic leadership at a time of great evolution within the program. This was greatly appreciated by many people, including myself. I found Kay’s leadership approach to be particularly effective amongst a diverse program team. She has an uncanny knack of bringing enthusiasm, energy and warmth into the work environment. She is very perceptive and able to work with people to achieve outcomes. I recommend her to any prospective employer where leadership and strategic thinking are prerequisites for success.

Successfully delivered business change

Kay came into our $400m transformation program at a critical time to establish and lead our business change team. Kay quickly established what was needed to support the program. In a considered and well planned way she built the team to about 50 change, communications, business process design and release professionals. Within 6 months, her team successfully delivered the business change for new data centres, service management system, a major administration system migration and our ERP implementation including release management. But I value Kay for far more than her technical and delivery expertise. Her every day enthusiasm and warmth lifted the spirits of the entire project team. Kay was a great help to me in developing my leadership team into a high performing team. Her ability to quickly understand individuals, their concerns and motivations enabled her to achieve more in her role and I have appreciated her insights when considering my approach to difficult situations. I would recommend that you consider Kay as part of any team.

A leader with strong energy that helps maintain focus and a positive culture

I worked with Kay for 18 months in the context of a very large, complex, whole of business transition to a completely new technology portfolio. Kay has relatively unique skills in change management, being able to blend business, technology and operational change techniques into a comprehensive change programme. In my experience as a CIO, Program Director and Senior Advisor, I have never come across someone with the blend of humanistic, communications, technical and business skills that Kay brings to strategic change management. Kay is a leader with strong energy that helps maintain focus and a positive culture.

Proven techniques, employed with a sense of reality and flexibility

I have been working with Kay for almost 4 months and I can already feel and see the difference she has made to both my professional and personal life. The opportunity to be coached by her has come at a really great time in my career – a couple of years after dipping my toe in to senior management; at the start of a hopefully long and continuous leadership journey. I am happier and more self-aware. I am more confident, productive and actively gathering a range of tools to use in various settings. Not all of them have been a success, but the beauty of having one-on-one coaching rather than group training, is that we are able to experiment and find what truly works for me and get those practices embedded into my routine. Kay was able to make me feel at ease very quickly. She is very observant and skilled at what she does. Her methods are based on proven techniques, employed with a sense of reality and flexibility. I am certain I am growing as a person, but above all I genuinely enjoy our sessions together.

I could not recommend her services more highly

Recently as the Chairman of a privately owned company I found myself dealing with a senior staff member who had made a formal complaint against a Director of the company with an accusation of bullying. The matter was time sensitive and I needed to move quickly. I reached out to my network and was recommended to contact Kay from Kay Clancy Consulting. Kay moved swiftly to assist us in the matter. She was available 24/7 and assisted us in the mediation process which resulted in a fair outcome to all parties involved. I could not recommend her services more highly.
